Safety Way Guidance Escape route marking

JALITE photoluminescent safety way guidance escape route marking systems (SWGS) provide continuous luminous markings and direction information, as per BS ISO 16069:2017. SWGS ensure that occupants can egress along the means of escape to a relative place of safety. Safety way guidance systems are commonly installed in tall buildings, high rise residential buildings, trains, aeroplanes, oil rigs, and ships. Safety way guidance systems are non-electrical luminous egress path markings and are low located lighting (LLL) systems. These systems are installed in close proximity to evacuees during an emergency evacuation; at evacuees’ feet, where they will likely point their attention.

JALITE photoluminescent safety way guidance system components are often installed alongside traditional high located escape route lighting. JALITE SWGS components include guidance lines, handrails, floor, and stair marking, floor mounted escape route signs, stair nosing, door number signs, fire alarm zone plans, door operation signs and much more. JALITE safety way guidance systems can help you manage formal risk assessment requirements, where occupants are at risk of injury, harm or death whilst attempting to escape. JALITE safety way guidance systems are installed for blackout situations i.e., power loss or smoke-filled conditions.

Quick overview

Characteristics

BS ISO 17398:2004 - Safety colours and safety signs. Classification performance and durability of signs.

This International Standard specifies requirements for a performance-related classification system for safety signs according to expected service environment, principal materials, photometric properties, means of illumination, fixing methods and surface. Performance criteria and test methods are specified in this International Standard so that properties related to durability and expected service life can be characterized and specified at the time of the product’s delivery to the purchaser.

DIN 67 510 Part 1: 2020 - Phosphorescent pigments and products - measurement and marking at the producer.

This standard applies to the measurement and classification by the manufacturer of phosphorescent pigments and the phosphorescent products made from them, for example for marking escape routes and hazards, in buildings, underground thoroughfares, on aircraft and ships, for marking equipment, fittings, utensils, working clothing and safety clothing. This standard specifies a series of conditions for testing the change in luminance over time and for identifying the tested phosphorescent products.

BS ISO 16069:2017 - Graphical symbols - Safety signs - Safety way guidance systems (SWGS).

This document describes the principles governing the design and application of visual components used to create a safety way guidance system (SWGS). This document contains general principles valid both for electrically powered and for phosphorescent components. Special information which is related to the type of component is given to assist in defining the environment of use, choice of material, layout, installation and maintenance of SWGS.

BS EN ISO 7010:2020 - Graphical symbols - Safety colours and safety signs - Registered safety signs.

BS EN ISO 7010 ensures the appearance of safety signs is consistent and the meaning clear wherever safety signs related to people are needed. The shape and colour of each safety sign conforms to the design principles in ISO 3864-1 and the design of the graphical symbols conforms to the design principles in ISO 3864-3. These safety signs are intended for use only where there is a risk to people. They may appear in workplaces and public areas, safety manuals and notices, product labelling and escape and evacuation plans as appropriate.
